Bill overview
This bill changes how burglary charges are handled when a firearm is involved. It restricts prosecutors from offering reduced sentences through plea agreements for burglary offenses if the crime occurred while the perpetrator was armed with a firearm. Currently, burglary involving injury or a weapon is considered a second-degree crime, but this legislation ensures that armed burglary will not be eligible for a lesser sentence than prescribed by law.
