Bill overview
This bill expands the rules around how insurance companies and related organizations can share information about suspected insurance fraud. It broadens the definition of who can collect and report this information, including insurance support organizations, and clarifies that ‘privileged information’ can relate to anyone involved in an insurance transaction. Importantly, the bill significantly expands immunity for those who disclose this information to law enforcement, regulators, or other insurance entities, protecting them from lawsuits related to defamation or privacy concerns, as long as the information is not knowingly false.
