Bill overview
This bill extends protections against expulsions and out-of-school suspensions for young students. Currently, limitations apply to students in preschool through second grade. This legislation expands those limitations to include students in third grade, meaning students in kindergarten through third grade will generally not be expelled unless related to school violence or sexual misconduct endangering others. The bill also prohibits out-of-school suspensions for this age group, except in cases involving serious safety concerns.
