Bill overview
This bill requires New Jersey firefighters, including both paid and volunteer personnel, to complete specific marine firefighting training courses. The Division of Fire Safety will adopt Coast Guard-approved basic, advanced, and in-service training programs. Recruit firefighters will be required to complete the basic marine firefighting course, and existing firefighters will need to complete the advanced course within two years and in-service training every two years thereafter. The bill also establishes a training course for firefighters who wish to become instructors in marine firefighting.
