Bill overview
This bill amends New Jersey law to increase the severity of the crime of official misconduct when it involves the disclosure of personal information of victims of domestic violence or sexual assault. Currently, such misconduct is a second-degree crime, but if the benefit obtained is less than $200, it’s a third-degree crime. This bill would make the disclosure-related offense a second-degree crime regardless of the value of the benefit.
