Bill overview
This bill limits how much electric public utility rates can increase for low- and middle-income households in New Jersey. Electric companies are prohibited from raising rates for these households beyond the annual inflation rate (the ‘all-items index’). The bill also requires utility companies to report data on the program’s impact and make recommendations for adjustments, and establishes penalties for non-compliance. The Board of Public Utilities will oversee the implementation and enforcement of these rules.
