Bill overview
This bill, the "New Jersey Dialysis Patient Support Person Accommodation Act," allows patients receiving dialysis treatment to be accompanied by a designated support person. The support person can assist with communication, mobility, and decision-making to help the patient receive care. Dialysis centers can establish reasonable health and safety measures, but these must not unreasonably restrict access to a support person, and centers must have written policies regarding support person access. The Department of Health will oversee compliance and investigate complaints.
