Bill overview
This bill requires children under age 6 entering public preschools, public schools, or Head Start programs for the first time to have a comprehensive eye examination completed by an optometrist or ophthalmologist by their initial enrollment date. The Department of Health will provide a list of resources for affordable eye exams, and schools must collect proof of the exam. A dedicated fund will be established to cover the costs of these exams for uninsured children.
