Bill overview
This bill creates a program to provide subsidized child care assistance to certain child care workers, defined as educators or staff members employed for at least 30 hours per week at licensed child care centers or registered family child care providers who have children ages zero through five and are not otherwise eligible for the program. It aims to improve compensation and recruitment/retention within the child care sector by making these workers eligible regardless of their family’s income. The Commissioner of Human Services will establish a process to verify eligibility and seek necessary state plan amendments to maintain federal funding.
