This bill reduces the rental motor vehicle surcharge in New Jersey from $5 per day to $2 per day. This change aims to lower the cost for renters of passenger automobiles, trucks, or semi-trailers. The reduced fee will be separately stated to the renter and will be collected by the Division of Taxation. The collected funds will continue to be deposited into the New Jersey Domestic Security Account for emergency preparedness and security programs.
