Bill overview
This bill would allow New Jersey municipalities to issue more retail alcoholic beverage licenses than currently permitted, regardless of the municipality’s population size. Currently, the number of licenses a municipality can issue is limited based on its population. This bill would enable municipalities to issue additional licenses through a public sale process, offering more opportunities for businesses to operate and sell alcohol. Revenue from these sales would be split between the municipality and existing licensed businesses.
