Bill overview
This bill creates a special enrollment period for New Jersey residents who lose access to an in-network healthcare provider through their health benefits plan. When a doctor or hospital stops participating in a plan’s network, affected individuals will have an opportunity to enroll in a new plan within a minimum 30-day period. The Department of Banking and Insurance will oversee this process and ensure that plan carriers inform those impacted about the enrollment options. The law will take effect 90 days after it is enacted.
