Bill overview
This bill restricts the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) from retiring electric generation facilities unless they can identify a replacement facility that can meet the existing demand and become operational in a timely manner. The replacement facility must be a renewable energy source, such as solar, wind, or nuclear. However, the bill does not prevent the BPU from retiring facilities that are no longer functional or pose a public health and safety risk.
