Bill overview
The ‘Saving Our Diners and Preserving Our Past (SODA POP) Act’ aims to support historic diners and restaurants in New Jersey by providing tax benefits. The bill establishes a registry for eligible establishments that have operated for at least 25 years and are small businesses. These diners and restaurants will receive a sales tax exemption on prepared food and beverage sales and a corporate business or gross income tax credit for a portion of the costs of eligible ingredients used in their operations. The registry will be maintained by the Department of State, and the Division of Taxation will issue relevant certificates.
