Bill overview
This bill requires the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency to create a statewide database of available beds in shelters for homeless individuals. Shelter operators and referral providers will be able to access real-time information about bed occupancy through the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). Operators must update bed availability within one hour of changes, and shelters must cooperate with the database to receive funding. The bill excludes shelters for victims of domestic violence.
