Bill overview
This bill allows New Jersey municipalities to offer residents and businesses the option of receiving property tax bills, construction permits, and payment receipts via email. The state’s Division of Local Government Services will work with the Office of Information Technology and the State Treasurer to create a system for municipalities to implement this option. Importantly, municipalities must continue to provide paper copies of these documents through regular mail at no extra cost to those who don’t opt for electronic delivery.
