Bill overview
This bill would allow certain non-U.S. citizen military service members, who have not lost their U.S. citizenship, to take New Jersey civil service examinations and be eligible for veterans preference. Specifically, individuals serving in the U.S. military but not U.S. citizens during their service would be able to take the exams. Furthermore, those who have already taken the exam under similar pending legislation would be eligible for veteran designations and preference if they meet specific discharge conditions and provide proof of U.S. citizenship.
