Bill overview
This bill requires New Jersey’s health care facilities to screen health care workers and first responders for symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Facilities must establish procedures to avoid redundant screenings and respect individuals’ rights to refuse. If a worker or responder screens positive, the facility must offer referrals to treatment resources and provide access to relevant information from the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services. The bill also directs the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services to develop a screening tool and provide ongoing support resources for affected workers and responders.
