Bill overview
This bill allows public school students to take excused absences to address their mental or behavioral health needs. Parents or guardians must provide documentation to the school if the absence is related to these health concerns. Students who take these excused absences will be able to make up missed work and won’t have the absences counted against their attendance record. The bill also directs the Department of Education and Department of Health to create guidelines for recognizing these absences.
