Bill overview
This bill increases the amount of New Jersey’s state child tax credit and adjusts the income and age requirements for eligibility. Specifically, it raises the credit amount for children under six to $2,600 for taxpayers with incomes under $100,000 and provides a credit between $1,200 and $2,000 for children aged six to eleven, also with incomes under $100,000. The bill also increases the income threshold at which the credit phases out from $80,000 to $100,000. These changes aim to provide additional financial support to families with children and partially restore the enhanced federal child tax credit from 2021.
