Bill overview
This bill extends the deadline for New Jersey taxpayers to file amended tax returns and claim refunds for overpayments related to military pension payments or military survivor’s benefit payments. Currently, taxpayers have three years from the original return filing or tax payment date to correct errors. This bill extends that timeframe to 10 years, providing more time for taxpayers to rectify mistakes in reporting these payments. The refund amount will not exceed what would have been allowed if the claim had been filed within the original timeframe.
