Overview
This bill allows the New Jersey Department of Health (DOH) to work with international organizations, specifically the World Health Organization’s Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network, to better detect and respond to infectious disease outbreaks. It authorizes the DOH to engage in communication and coordination activities related to this network. Importantly, the bill clarifies that New Jersey will not become a member of the World Health Organization and prohibits the sharing of confidential health information or spending funds beyond existing budgets. The bill also requires the DOH Commissioner to report on their efforts to participate in the network.
