Bill overview
This bill requires landlords in New Jersey to provide tenants of certain multiple dwellings with a ‘tenant legal resources notice.’ This notice must detail available legal assistance and be distributed at various points during the tenancy, including move-in, lease renewal, and during legal proceedings. The Department of Community Affairs will develop a standardized ‘State component’ for the notice, and municipalities are responsible for publishing their own versions. Landlords who fail to provide the notice will be subject to a $1,000 penalty.
