Bill overview
This bill requires all nursing homes in New Jersey to employ a patient advocate. The advocate must be a health care professional or social worker with prior nursing home experience and will represent residents and their families, negotiating on their behalf. If a nursing home violates a resident’s rights, the advocate is required to notify the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman.
