Bill overview
This bill creates a Watershed Council within the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The council’s primary role is to analyze flooding and other environmental issues impacting the state’s watersheds, assess the effectiveness of existing DEP programs, and make recommendations for improvement. It will consist of 21 members appointed by the Governor, representing different watershed areas and possessing relevant expertise. The council will also produce an annual report to the Governor, the DEP Commissioner, and the Legislature.
