Bill overview
This bill requires New Jersey’s public colleges and universities to offer tuition-free job training courses to individuals who have lost their jobs due to automation, specifically those who have been unemployed for at least two years and received a layoff notice related to factory or plant closures or automation. Eligible students cannot receive other forms of financial aid, and space must be available for the courses. A small registration fee of up to $20 per term may be charged.
