Bill overview
This bill changes the requirements for updating a driver’s license in New Jersey. Currently, a name change requires a marriage certificate or court order. This bill allows individuals whose spouse has died to revert their driver’s license to reflect their birth name, using their spouse’s death certificate as proof. Licensees must also attest that the name change is not for fraudulent purposes.
