Bill overview
This bill allows resident school districts in New Jersey to provide financial payments to parents instead of providing transportation for students attending county vocational school districts who live a significant distance from the school. Currently, districts are required to provide transportation for these students if they live more than 2.5 miles away. Under this legislation, districts can choose to either provide transportation or offer a payment in lieu of transportation, determined based on a specific formula. The bill also includes a provision for students attending the Marine Academy of Science and Technology.
