Bill overview
This bill requires the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) to add a designation to motor vehicle registration information for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate a hearing loss of 41 dB or greater based on a hearing test performed by an ENT or audiologist. This designation will only appear when law enforcement accesses license plate information through the MVC’s online system to alert them to the registrant’s hearing impairment.
