Bill overview
This bill requires New Jersey law enforcement officers to receive specific training on their duties as mandated reporters of suspected child abuse and neglect. The training, developed in collaboration with the Department of Children and Families and the Division of Criminal Justice, will cover reporting procedures and the state’s Model Coordinated Response Protocol. Officers will need to complete this training during their initial appointment or transfer and then every three years to ensure they are equipped to identify and report these serious incidents.
