Bill overview
This bill increases penalties for residential burglary and other crimes committed during or shortly after a funeral or the death of a resident. Specifically, it modifies existing law to ensure that a residential burglary enhancement under the No Early Release Act (NERA) is applied when the burglary occurs due to the death of a resident or their attendance at a funeral. The bill also strengthens penalties for disrupting a funeral, particularly if information from a funeral announcement is used to commit related crimes.
