Bill overview
This bill changes how money from the Alcohol Education, Rehabilitation, and Enforcement Fund is distributed to New Jersey municipalities. Starting in 2023, each municipality must report the number of drunk driving arrests they made in the previous year to the Administrative Office of the Courts. The AOC will then calculate how much funding each municipality receives based on the number of arrests, using two different calculation methods to determine a ‘unit dollar value’ for each arrest. This funding is intended to help municipalities maintain their municipal courts.
