Bill overview
This bill requires New Jersey school districts to offer preschool programs for three- and four-year-old residents, with a plan for implementation due by the 2029-2030 school year. Districts not currently offering preschool must submit a plan to the Commissioner of Education by June 30, 2027. Districts can also establish partnerships with neighboring districts to provide preschool services. The bill also amends existing law to expand the age range for free public school to include children aged three to twenty.
