Bill overview
This bill allows the New Jersey Transportation Research Bureau to award research contracts to private research institutions of higher education and other entities, in addition to existing public institutions. The bureau will determine if awarding a contract to a private entity is in the public interest and subject to existing bidding regulations. The bill also requires research contracts to consider the transportation needs of residents with disabilities and expands the definition of ‘entities’ to include non-profit organizations.
