Bill overview
The Clean Energy AI Incentivization Act directs the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) to create a program that incentivizes the construction of artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. The BPU will establish standards for responsible infrastructure development, including requirements for on-site energy generation, community engagement, local hiring, and emergency power backup systems like fuel cells. Data centers meeting these standards will be eligible for tax credits and certification by the BPU.
