Bill overview
This bill would require all new passenger automobiles manufactured in New Jersey to be equipped with a rear-seat detection system. These systems would alert drivers to the presence of an unattended occupant in the vehicle after the engine is turned off. The goal is to prevent children and pets from being left alone in hot cars and to improve safety by notifying emergency services if a child remains in the vehicle.
