Bill overview
This bill allows a school district to temporarily offer virtual or remote instruction to students attending a public school that is being used as a polling place for a special election on April 16, 2026. The instruction would be limited to that single day and must align with existing Commissioner of Education guidelines. It also provides an exception to the usual requirement for schools to be in session for 180 days to receive state aid, allowing the day of virtual instruction to count towards that requirement.
