Bill overview
This bill restricts the use of artificial intelligence-generated communications in New Jersey election campaigns. It prohibits publishing or circulating such messages within 90 days of an election and requires clear labeling when AI is used. The bill also prohibits deceptive audio or visual media created with AI that falsely portrays opposing candidates. Violations will be considered a fourth-degree crime, and the Election Law Enforcement Commission will create regulations to enforce the law.
