Bill overview
This bill allows commercial farm operators who lease State-owned land to receive a deduction from their rent payments for donations of perishable food, prepared food, or eligible farm equipment to food banks and food pantries in New Jersey. The deduction would be 50% of the wholesale value of the donated items, or the value at point of sale for farm equipment. To claim the deduction, operators must obtain written statements from the recipient organizations detailing the donations made.
