Bill overview
This bill changes how New Jersey municipalities determine their obligations for affordable housing. Instead of basing these obligations on regional need, the bill requires them to be based on Statewide need. The Department of Community Affairs will calculate this Statewide need and municipalities must then fulfill their affordable housing obligations accordingly. This aims to ensure a more equitable distribution of affordable housing across the state.
