Bill overview
This bill amends the New Jersey Administrative Procedure Act to strengthen the requirement for agencies to assess the socio-economic impact of proposed rules. Specifically, it mandates that agencies consult with a representative from the affected segment of the public to obtain a detailed description of the anticipated impact of the rule, including costs and job effects. This description must then be included in the proposed rule submitted to the Office of Administrative Law for publication. The bill also clarifies when a socio-economic impact statement is not required.
