This bill proposes temporary surcharges on certain transactions in New Jersey to help fund preparations for hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It includes a 2.5% hotel and motel occupancy surcharge, a 3% sales tax surcharge in the Meadowlands district, and a $0.50 surcharge on transportation network rides originating or terminating in that area. Additionally, the bill introduces a 10% surcharge on online sports wagering revenue from the tournament, directed to the Casino Revenue Fund and the General Fund. Residents may be able to claim a tax credit for surcharges paid.
