Bill overview
This bill expands the liability of individuals associated with limited liability companies and other commercial entities when acting as residential landlords. It allows courts to hold these individuals jointly and severally liable for housing code, building code, and health code charges, as well as charges under the Hotel and Multiple Dwelling Law. The bill also establishes a mechanism for municipalities to convert unpaid charges into liens on the property, provided certain conditions are met, including proper notice to the property owner and relevant parties. Finally, it updates registration requirements for landlords to include specific information about registered agents and members of member-managed LLCs.
