Overview
This bill expands New Jersey’s law allowing temporary restraining orders for stalking victims to include individuals of any age or those with mental capacity issues. Currently, these orders were primarily available for children, developmentally disabled individuals, or adults with mental impairments who were unable to understand the nature of the stalking. This change would allow victims of any age or condition to seek immediate protection from a stalker through a temporary restraining order, even before a criminal conviction is secured.
