Overview
This bill requires that any newly constructed grocery store in New Jersey, including supermarkets and convenience stores, be equipped with an automatic standby emergency power generator. The goal is to ensure these stores can continue to operate and provide essential food and supplies to the public during power outages, similar to the needs following Hurricane Sandy. The Department of Community Affairs will create regulations for the installation and maintenance of these generators.
