Overview
This bill amends New Jersey law to exempt full-time State, county, and municipal police officers, as well as Class Two special law enforcement officers, from serving on juries. Currently, police officers are not automatically exempt, though they were previously covered under older state statutes. The bill expands the list of individuals who can request an exemption based on factors like age, prior jury service, medical conditions, financial hardship, or the need to care for dependents.
