Overview
This bill requires New Jersey’s electric public utilities to reimburse residential customers for the cost of spoiled food and compromised prescription medications resulting from a sustained power outage. Customers would be eligible for up to $500 for spoiled food and $1,000 for compromised medicine, provided they submit an itemized list of losses and proof of purchase. Utilities are required to establish an online reimbursement system within 90 days of the bill’s enactment, subject to Board regulations.
