Overview
This bill requires public officials and employees charged with crimes related to their jobs to be suspended without pay and health benefits until the case is resolved – either through a conviction, exoneration, or dismissal. If the charges are dismissed or the individual is acquitted, they are entitled to back pay and reimbursement for any lost health care benefits during the suspension period. The suspension applies to crimes under New Jersey law or similar offenses in other jurisdictions that relate to their official role.
