Overview
This bill changes how the New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) awards research contracts for transportation projects. It allows the DOT’s Transportation Research Bureau to hire research institutions, including private universities and other entities, to conduct transportation research. The bureau must consider the public interest when awarding contracts and follow existing bidding regulations. Furthermore, all research contracts must consider the needs of people with disabilities.
