Overview
This bill requires new employers in New Jersey, including law enforcement agencies and educational institutions, to reimburse former employers for the costs associated with training and hiring law enforcement officers. Specifically, it applies to individuals who resigned from a county or municipal law enforcement agency, a State law enforcement agency, the New Jersey Transit Police Department, or an educational institution’s police department and were subsequently hired by another entity within 120 days of their resignation. The reimbursement amount depends on the length of the officer’s previous permanent appointment.
